May Day Celebration, Sunday, May 1, 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at Prospect Hill Plantation. A fun-filled celebration at this beautiful and historic plantation overlooking the South Edisto River. Featuring heavy hors d’oeuvres, a full bar, live music and lawn games. We will also have the drawing for our raffle with 5 lucky people winning great prizes (you do not have to be present to win). To purchase tickets for the raffle and/or the May Day Celebration, go to our shop. A great party for the entire family, with discounted admission for children between the ages of 6 and 16 and children 5 and under are free.
Soap Making Classes for Children (ages 8 – 12) – Join us for a fun session learning the basics of cold-processed soap making. The cost is $30 per student and all supplies and lunch are included. Two sessions will be held, each from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. here at the Edisto Island Museum. The first class will be held on Wednesday, July 13th and the second will be on Wednesday, July 27th. Each class is limited to 10 students, so sign up early either at the Museum or on the website.
EIHPS Lecture: “Classic Carolina Road Trips, An Illustrated Talk, 7:00 Wednesday, July 20th by Tom Poland, author of 10 books. This lecture is free and open to the public and will focus on the adventures to be found on the back roads of South Carolina. The talk will be given at the historic Old First Baptist Church (circa 1818), 1644 Hwy. 174. Suitable for families.
2016 Edisto & Beyond Tour - Saturday, October 8th (10:00 – 5:00). Featured properties are: Summit Plantation, Brookland Plantation, Bailey House, Grimball House Ruins, the Pink House, Old First Baptist Church, Zion Church, Trinity Church and the Presbyterian Church on Edisto Island. Tickets are $55 per person (members may buy two tickets at $50) and will go on sale to members only on July 12th. If any tickets remain, they will go on sale to the public on August 9th.
